Help required. I am 15 yrs old and have recently purchased a good condition 1967 Series IIA, the previous owner sold it because of a problem with the clutch. He was unsure of the true nature of the problem, but gave me a new master and slave cylinder along with a full clutch kit. I have fitted the master cylinder and would like to try and find out what is wrong before I dismantle any further. Having bled everything thru I find that the clutch pedal cannot be fully depressed, it was ok when bleeding it, so master cylinder etc is good. With the engine running I can press the pedal about half way and can hear the thrust bearing operating, but it seems that the pedal comes up solid. The clutch is not fully disengaging as I am unable to select any gears. If I stop the engine and put it in gear I can start and drive it, indicating the clutch is holding. Can any one tell me where the problem lies, as I don’t want to take the engine out and change the clutch unless I really have to as I am doing this myself. |
